As seen in part 1 we have the databases spread across both the nodes. lets go ahead and upgrade node2 to Exchange 2010 Sp2
Fig:2 Shows that the database are mounted on Node 1 and Node 2
Fig2 : Shows that the PAM or Cluster Group is on Node 2
Now lets run the StartDagServerMaintenance.ps1 from the scripts folder on Node2
Fig3: Shows the alert when the script runs. Also in the back ground its moving the Databases and the PAM role to Node 1
Fig 4: Shows that the databases and the PAM is moved to Node1
Fig 4 : Shows that the Node 2 is paused so that does not get activated
Fig 5: Shows that the Node 2 is Blocked for activation
Once the StartDagServerMaintenance.ps1 is run upgrade the Node2 Once it completes Run the StopDagServerMaintenance.ps1
How does the above script help us in upgrading the DAG nodes?
- Runs the Resume-MailboxDatabaseCopy cmdlet for each database copy hosted on the DAG member.
- Resumes the node in the cluster, which enables full cluster functionality for the DAG member.
- Sets the value of the DatabaseCopyAutoActivationPolicy parameter on the DAG member to
follow the same steps on Node1 to get the Nodes upgraded to sp2
