Note : In place upgrade is not recommended neither supported.

Before We Begin

The forest and the domain has to be prepared before installing Windows Server 2012 Domain.

How to run AdPrep in Windows Server 2012

The account should be a member of Domain Admins and Enterprise Admins Group.

Scenario

Forest Functional Level is Windows Server 2008 R2

Windows Server 2012 Domain Joined Machine.

AD DS Role is already installed (For detailed steps please click here)

In figure 1.1 Select Add a domain controller to an existing domain as shown above. Default credentials are used since the machine is a domain joined machine.

    1: After upgrade what all the schema attributes for a object will be added.
    2: Before upgradation how many schema attributes was their….and after upgradation how much it gets added to entire forest.

    1: After upgrade what all the schema attributes for a object will be added.
    Ans : I have upgraded from Windows Server 2008 R2. So there is not much difference, however the version has changed from 47 to 56. This version files are available in the location specified in this article.
    Personal Virtual Desktop is being removed from 2008 R2 Domain.

    Ans : Only changes what I have seen is the version.

    Typo error.

    Personal Virtual Desktop is being removed from Windows Server 2012 Domains and it was available when you go to the properties of any user objects in Windows Server 2008 R2.
